Who are the CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan/CLAMP Campus Detectives?

Again, I'm glad you asked. The CGT/CCD are three elementary school boys attending the CLAMP Gakuen in Tokyo. When they helped a widow save her house from her unscrupulous brother-in-law, the CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan were formed! This attracted the interest of the Rijichou (Chairman, or in this case, Chairwoman) of the school, who challenged them to solve another case. Their prowess established, the boys now crack cases in between classwork and help those in need. These boys are near and dear to my heart, so we'll start with a little bit of information about each one. All of them are top students in their class, but blessed with some very individual talents.

Imonoyama Nokoru

- Age 12, grade 6 and kaichou (class president) of the Elementary Student Council, Nokoru is the youngest son of one of the wealthiest and most influential families in Japan. Brilliant, beautiful, and devoted to protecting the happiness of women everywhere, Nokoru has what seems like a sixth sense when it comes to ladies in distress. Without an athletic bone in his body, he gains supreme coordination when a lady is in jeopardy. Wanted by NASA for his precocious brains, this pint-sized prodigy has been running the Electrical Engineering department of the Imonoyama Group since he was 9. Kind and courteous, but he's not without his flaws. Nokoru hates to do paperwork and constantly concocts elaborate schemes in order to get out of doing it. Nokoru is rarely seen without his trademark fan...and it's probably not just coincidence that the Rijichou of the Campus also carries one. In his spare time, Nokoru is secretly the Choukan (Boss) of the Duklyon Campus Police, and rarely is there something happening on the Campus that he doesn't already know about.

Takamura Suoh

- Age 11, grade 5, secretary of the Elementary Student Council, Suoh comes from a clan of ninja bodyguards who each choose one person to protect for life. He knows and uses several varied styles of martial arts, already holding dans in them by the second grade, and is never without several concealed weapons. Suoh is the straight man to Nokoru's mirth, and the taskmaster who ensures that Student Council business gets accomplished. When Suoh met Nokoru, he didn't initially like him, something about his friendly, carefree ways disturbed him. But when kidnappers abduct Nokoru, Suoh's instincts take over. After a harrowing and unique escape, Suoh realizes that Nokoru is the person he will protect, and he becomes Nokoru's first true friend. Suoh is serious and somewhat quiet, but he has no qualms about doing whatever it takes to keep Nokoru in line. However, since Akira is so wide-eyed and sparkling over Nokoru's antics, he is often seen looking somewhat exasperated at being the only one to take Student Council business seriously.

Ijyuin Akira

- Age 10, grade 4, treasurer of the Elementary Student Council, bright-eyed and enthusiastic Akira lives with his two mothers (sisters who are married to the same man, a famous chef and gentleman thief who does not live with them). He is a master chef himself, already teaching college-level classes at the Campus, and bakes the afternoon snacks for the Student Council. Nokoru and Suoh both say that nothing tastes as good as when it is cooked by Akira. Akira is cheerful and kind, a little naive but thoroughly dedicated to their cause. As brilliant as the other two, he keeps the financial records for the Council on an abacus. It is Akira's big secret that he is also the master thief 20 Mensou, but his reasons for stealing aren't personal gain or profit. His mothers are both a bit childish, and whenever they see something they want (usually something shiny and expensive), they beg Akira to steal it for them, and he can't say no to them. Most of the things he steals are from the Imonoyama Zaibatsu or the Campus, and it is hinted a couple of times in the CGT/CCD and Gakuen Tokkei Duklyon manga that Nokoru is perfectly aware of Akira's secret identity. However, his moonlighting brought him something very special, because it was how he met the love of his life, Ohkawa Utako, after sneaking onto her balcony one night while escaping. Their story is detailed in the 20 Mensou ni Onegai! manga (Man of Many Faces in the Tokyopop release).
